New to Muds?

We all were at one time or another!

MUDs are text-based games of adventure and role-play. MUDs use "Telnet Protocol"
which usually involves a "client" to present the in game happenings to the player
and take the player's actions to the world. The world is persistent and all
players play within the same world at the same time.

While that may seem a bit complex it is actually very simple. You download a client
to your computer and then connect to the game address and port number. Various clients
can be a little different in how this is accomplished, so if you have any questions
please visit the forum where other players and staff will be more then happy to help.

Address: throes.slayn.net Port: 1200

The first time you log in you get to create a character and choose their direction
in life. Your character's name should be in line with fantasy names and not a real
world name or word (or groupings of words), nor a well-known name from fiction or
anything that you would not expect to see as someone's name within fantasy.
Then set your password and remember it (or write it down).

The email address will not be used for anything other then if a request for password
retrieval or other needed game correspondence is required. Only the senior admin has
access to your email, and it will never be sold or given away.
That is a promise.

Then you choose your fantasy race. The character could be a human, or one of the
other various fantasy races (elf, half-elf, dwarf, gnome, halfling, drow, morlock).
This will affect their starting city, class choices and other game functions.

Then statistics are chosen, pretty well in line with most other role-play games
(DnD, ect). These help set the way the game sees what you can and cannot do, and
how to help you progress as you gain power.

You then choose their class or path your character will follow. This will decide
which sets of skills are available to the character as it grows in power. They
can be raised once in the game world by training them.

Please read "help newplayer" and "rules" by typing them once in game. If you need
further help feel free to use the newplayer channel. Channels are used by typing
the channel name followed by a message (example: new I need help.).

We hope you enjoy your time with us and that we can provide entertainment to you.
